The Department for Promotion of Science in Society, JST has been engaged in activities to determine social issues with various stakeholders that we should co-creatively tackle envisioning the future, “the society of 2050.” We published this report as part of one of these activities.

■Dialogues for Social Challenges are Woven Toward 2050 ---From “Future that will come” to “Future that you want to create”

We held a total of 26 workshops including Science Agora and Science Café over the past two and half years, summarizing varied viewpoints of researchers involved in resolving social issues, their surrounding stakeholders from industries, the government, and collaborator organizations of CHANCE* and the citizens, etc., as ideal future visions in the report. Specifically, we divided our vision of the future into two categories: “Future that will come”(The future that will inevitably come if we stay as it is) and “Future that you want to create”(The future that will be created with intention). We further organized it from three perspectives of individuals, society, and the earth.

Through these reports, JST will promote the activities to contribute to dialogue and initiatives that aim to resolve social issues connecting various sectors.
