Recent video databases allow the user to quickly and easily access many videos. This research project is developing a system that analyzes such video databases and extracts useful information, which can be utilized for the user to synthesize original movies. There are three goals: 1) a technique to animate a picture by utilizing extracted motion information, 2) a technique to synthesize an image seen from a novel viewpoint by utilizing extracted 3D information, and 3) a technique to synthesize sounds over a silent movie by utilizing extracted information about relationship between sound and motion.
