On 9th January 2015, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) announced that they would commence support to 4 jointly selected projects in total in the “Food Security and Land Use Change” 2013 CRA and in the “Scenarios of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services” 2014 CRA, within the framework of the Belmont Forum International Opportunities Fund.
In the 2013 CRA there were 12 Type 1 proposals (Networking type) and 34 Type 2 proposals (Medium- to long-term integrated research type) submitted in response to the call, and 1 project of each type was selected for funding (See Appendix 1). The Type 1 project has been supported since May 2014 and support to the Type 2 project will begin in February 2015. The support period is eighteen months (about 15 million JPY for the total period) for the Type1 project and three years (approximately 15 million JPY per year) for the Type2 project.
In the 2014 CRA there were a total of 9 proposals submitted in response to the call, and 2 projects were selected for funding (See Appendix 2). Research funding to the projects will begin in April 2015, and will continue for a period of two years (approximately 7 million JPY for the total period per project).
