Simulation for Predicting Quake-Proof Capability of Nuclear Power Plants

Research Project Outline

Recently importance of nuclear energy has been recognized again due to serious concerns of global warming and energy security. It is one of the critical issues to verify safety capability of ageing nuclear power plants subjected to big earthquake. In this research, we will develop a multi-physics and multiscale based simulator of quantitatively predicting actual function limit of ageing nuclear power plants under operation or just after scram event subjected to big earthquake.
