Identification of Endophenotype in Psychiatric Disorders using Genetically Engineered Mice

Research Project Outline

Elucidating the factors underlying psychiatric illness is hampered by current methods of clinical diagnosis. The identification of biological endophenotypes is essential, but represents a considerable challenge in human subjects. In this project, we first try to identify endophenotypes in genetically-engineered mice showing behaivoral abnormalities related to pscyhiatirc disorders. And then we investigate human subjects, utilizing the knowledge obtained in mice. Our project will reveal molecular and neural mechanisms underlying psychiatric disoreders.
