Richard B. Dasher

Richard B. Dasher

In the Stanford University School of Engineering, Prof. Dasher has been Director of the US-Asia Technology Management Center since 1994 and Executive Director of the Center for Integrated Systems since 1998. He became an outside board director of Tohoku University in 2004-05 and continues on their Management Council and as Advisor to the Tohoku University president. He served on the Multidisciplinary Assessment Committee for the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s C$350 million Leading Edge Fund in 2006 and has been on the Program Committee for the MEXT World Premier International Research Center grant program in 2007. Prof. Dasher received the Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stanford University and served as Director of the U.S. State Department’s advanced training centers in Japanese and Korean for U.S. diplomats in 1986-1990. He then developed international business as a board director of two Japanese firms in Tokyo from 1990-93. Prof. Dasher maintains an active private consulting practice in regard to new business creation and growth, Japan and Asia corporate strategy, and technology management. He is an outside director of the Japanese semiconductor firm ZyCube, and he advises other venture businesses in Japan, China, and Silicon Valley.
