The Role of Bodily Movement (action) on the Development of Communication

Research Project Outline

The aim of our project is to elucidate the role of bodily movement or action on the development of verbal and nonverbal communication. We are going to examine this complex aspect of brain function using a wide range of methods, such as neuroimaging, clinical neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, neurophysiology, neurobiology, psychology, behavioral science, and information engineering. The outcome will lead to the understandings of communication disorder and the development of a new system to support and rehabilitate communication in children with mental retardation. We also attempt to develop primate models for communication disorder.
