Re-arrangement of Neuronal Circuits during Development and during Recovery from Brain Damage

Research Project Outline

There is widespread re-arrangement of neuronal circuits during both development, and during recovery from acute brain damage, and it is thought that these two processes share some common features. In this project, we further examine the mechanisms underlying neuronal re-arrangement seen in these two conditions, and compare their similarities and differences. In particular, we attempt to identify whether there is any critical period for neuronal rearrangement following brain injury and, if so, characterise some of the mechanisms that may be responsible.
