Mechanisms Underlying Dopaminedependent Control of Development and Execution of Behaviors

Research Project Outline

The dopamine neuron systems play important roles in learning and development of behaviors, but its brain mechanisms are not fully understood. In the present research project, we perform comprehensive studies, involving not only rodents but also primates, to elucidate the mechanisms underlying dopamine- dependent control of development and execution of behaviors. This project is expected to contribute to an understanding of developmental disorders, such as schizophrenia and attention-deficit hyperactivity disease, that are considered to be caused by dysfunctions of the dopamine neuron systems.
