Quantum Entangled Photons and their Application Systems in the Communication Wavelength Band

Research Project Outline

Quantum entangled photon pairs, which is an unique quantum state of light, are key elements for quantum information and communication systems, such as quantum-relay/quantum- repeaters that enlarge transmission distance in quantum cryptography, and quantum network that connects quantum processors. This project studies generation techniques of entangled photons and their application systems, aiming at establishing quantum-entangled-photon technologies in the 1.5-µm wavelength band.
