The objective of Switzerland-Japan Collaborative Research is to promote cooperation in science and technology as well as to lead to major benefits for both Switzerland and Japan. The program is administered based on an intergovernmental agreement between Japan and Switzerland in the field of “Research on Hydrogen as a renewable research carrier”, as designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
Research programme of “Research on Hydrogen as a renewable research carrier” aims to build on recent research investments in novel hydrogen research and technology in hydrogen production, hydrogen storage/transportation and efficient applications.

Maximum of \18 million (including indirect costs) for the Japanese component of each project.
Proposals were peer‐reviewed and evaluated by a Moderating Panel nominated by SNSF and JST. Based on the final funding recommendations made by the Moderating Panel, JST and SNSF jointly decided on the three successful projects to select for funding.
The following general evaluation criteria were applied to each application:
