Development of precise synthesis of conjugated polymers with well-defined end groups:
Promising new optical materials for development of molecular organic electronics

Precise synthesis of conjugated polymers, poly(arylene vinylene)s, with different end groups by acyclic diene metathesis polymerization has been developed. Emission properties in the resultant materials were influenced by the end groups and the conjugation reaper units. The method thus provides synthesis of new type of conjugated materials that should not only be useful for basic understanding, but also should exhibit new/unique optical properties by integration of functionality.
