Development of Social Conversation Robots “CommU” and “Sota”
- Toward Realization of a Symbiotic Society in which Humans and Robots Live Together -

The research group at Osaka University together with Vstone Co.,Ltd., an Osaka-based robotics company, developed two types of Social Conversation Robots. These robots can palpably give people a sense of conversation, which is very faint in conversation with a robot, by involving them in the conversation between multiple robots. The robots were introduced by two very humanlike android robots developed by Professor Ishiguro at the press meeting; it was the world’s first press meeting in which no one but such androids and robots appears.
