The regulation of intracellular ATP metabolism by a novel nucleolar protein, NML
Abstract
Cellular energy homeostasis is attained by a balance between ATP-producing pathway and ATP-consuming pathway. I found a novel nucleolar protein, Nucleomethylin (NML), which repressed rRNA synthesis and regulated a rate of ATP-consuming pathway. This project focuses on the identification of the roles for NML in intracellular ATP metabolism network. Furthermore, I will elucidate relationship with NML and metabolic disorders. Based on the results of the study, I will develop therapeutic strategies against metabolic syndrome.
