Study on User Oriented Dependability

Research Project Outline

The goals of this project are to clarify the notion of depend-ability for information processing systems and to set up a standard based upon it.Systems' social responsibility is taken into account.The project also aims at presenting two guidelines accompanying the standard; one for the confor-mity assessment and the other on how to manage system life cycle (design, development, operation and maintenance, disposal) according to the standard.As a result, users will have objective criteria for the dependability of the system they work with.Moreover, developers will be able to provide the dependability of their products as an objective added value backed up by the standard.
