Optical Science of Vector Beams andNano-Imaging

Research Project Outline

Vector beams, which can be generated only by simultaneous and precise control of polarization, phase and intensity distri-butions, are one of the state-of the-art laser beams. Our goal is to exploit a new fi eld of optical science by systematic inves-tigation of behavior of light around a focal region, where in-novative and functional features of the vector beams domi-nantly manifest. In addition, the development of unprecedent-ed super-resolution optical microscopy, which enables nano-imaging in the far fi eld, is propelled by performing inter-disciplinary research with material and life sciences.
