ネパール地震関連「国際緊急共同研究・調査支援プログラム(J-RAPID)」

About us

In March 2011, JST first launched the J-RAPID program for urgent research/investigation, and especially for international collaborative research/investigation, in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake.

J-RAPID is program to support international collaborative research/survey activities having a severe urgency on natural or anthropogenic disasters, or other unanticipated events occurred in Japan or other countries.
about J-RAPID(English Ver.)

Nepal

In response to the earthquake in Nepal in April, 2015, 13 projects were selected for funding by this program initiated by JST in collaboration with the Nepal Ministry of Population and Environment. Each project's research involved the collaboration of a team from Japan and Nepal. The research area spanned a wide field of subjects including geology, architecture and public health.

The program ended on 30 June, 2016, and a workshop reporting on the 1-year long research's contributions to the revival of disaster-struck areas and prevention/harm-reduction of future disasters was held. Presentations were made by representatives from both the Japan and Nepal side of each research project. The workshop included the participation from not only researchers but members from agencies from the Government of Nepal as well as JICA, and discussed the potential paths towards implementation of outcomes and applications from the research.
