Dr. Domen received a bachelor’s degree in 1976 and a doctor’s degree in 1982 from the University of Tokyo, School of Science, respectively. He served as an associate researcher (1982), an associate professor (1990-1996), and a professor (1996) at Tokyo Institute of Technology. He became a professor at the University of Tokyo in 2004. He has written approximately 426 papers and approximately 112 books and review articles including “Photocatalyst releasing hydrogen from water-Enhancing catalytic performance holds promise for hydrogen production by water splitting in sunlight”(Nature, 2006, 440, 295). He was awarded Catalysis Society of Japan Awards 2007.
