Dr. Yasui graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, in 1968. He received his Doctorate in Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1973. He served as Research Associate, the University of Tokyo (1973); Lecturer, ibid. (1975); Doctoral Research Fellow, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1975-1977); Associate Professor, Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo (1979); Professor, ibid. (1990); Director/Professor, Center for Collaborate Research (1996); President, National Conference for Centers for Industry-University Collaboration (1997); Professor, Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo (1999); Vice-Rector, United Nations University; Visiting Professor, the University of Tokyo. He currently serves as Professor Emeritus, the University of Tokyo; Vice-Rector Emeritus, United Nations University; Senior Fellow, Center for Research and Development Strategy (CRDS), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
