Dr. Kanazawa is President of the Science Council of Japan. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Tokyo, and is a clinical neurologist. Prior to his current position, he served as President at National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry from 2003 to 2007 and Director of the University of Tokyo Hospital from 1997 to 1999. Since 2002 he has been Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, and Medical Supervisor for Royal Families. Since 2007 he has been President Emeritus, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry.
