Outline
Dengue fever is an infectious disease that spreads rampantly in Thailand and other tropical countries. However, there is still no effective drug for the disease. In this international collaboration research, we aim to obtain molecules with anti-dengue virus activity from a marine natural product library that contains many compounds that are difficult to synthesize, and to improve them into effective molecules. Furthermore, through these studies, young Japanese and Thai researchers will participate in cutting-edge technological exchanges to foster the next generation of human resources capable of promoting research with an international perspective. Researchers from Mahidol University and Tohoku University have collaborated for the past 10 years. We will strengthen our collaboration by leveraging this foundation of international joint research and aim for further development in the transnational research against infectious disease.
