The aim of this research is development of artificial neuronal membrane sensors by the combination of Si fabrication techniques, lipid bilayer assemblies and isolated receptor channel proteins. Mechanically stable lipid bilayers are prepared in a microfabricated aperture whose edge is designed in a nm scale. By using these bilayers, ion-channel sensors and arrays mimicking neuronal membranes are developed for the application of high-throughput drug screening.
