Internationally considering the emission-reduction target, we focus on the R&D on lowering the energy loss in optics-based technologies that can contribute to the reduction of CO2 emission. We attempt to lower power consumption in liquid-crystal displays and lighting by suppressing unnecessary light and improving its directionality. In addition, we attempt to lower the energy loss and improve the efficiency of light-emitting diodes by optimizing their structure and materials. In this ALCA Enabling Technology project, we examine the germicidal lamp technology in addition to lighting. Moreover, via R&D on solar-cell materials and structures, we effectively utilize solar light and attempt to reduce CO2 emission by decreasing the electricity required for lighting.
More specifically, we investigate new technologies such as perovskite solar cells and tandem one. Moreover, we construct photovoltaic devices separately from photodetectors using laser transmission.
