It is a collection of the ground-breaking achievements of South African inventors and innovators, from the use of traditional plans to the latest developments in space science.

This exhibition celebrates inventions and innovations by people of the rainbow nation. South Africans of all cultures are highly innovative people whose inventions have changed the world.

In order for South Africa to remain competitive we need to build a stronger science and technology culture at all levels of society, and we also need to invest more in research and create an environment in which innovative people flourish.

We need to remain at the cutting edge of new fields of science and technology but also recognise the importance of traditional knowledge.

In this exhibition an ‘invention’ is defined as a new product or service that you can buy. An ‘innovation’ as an improvement of an existing invention, and lastly a ‘discovery’ is a new finding that reveals a truth that was always there.
