On April 15, Dr. Michinari Hamaguchi, President of JST, received Ms Anja Karliczek, German Federal Minister for Education and Research, for a half an hour of consultation on Japan-German cooperation in the field of science and technology at the Tokyo Headquarter during the latter's first visit to Japan. President Hamaguchi and Federal Minister Karliczek expressed their high appreciation for the Japan-German scientific collaboration made thus far and exchanged views extensively on such hot topics as artificial intelligence and the prospect of future cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Karliczek was accompanied by non-partisan members of the German Bundestag and Presidents of leading German research institutes – a delegation of totally 18 members. JST Executive Directors Dr. Goto and Ms Shirokizawa as well as relevant department directors attended the meeting.
