JST and EHESS Signed a New Memorandum of Cooperation in Paris

Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the The École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS)*1 signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC)*2 on June 3rd, 2015 in Paris to establish a comprehensive collaboration.

As part of the cooperation based on the MOC, an international workshop titled "Engaging Society in Innovation and Creativity: Perspectives from Social Sciences and Humanities" was co-organized by the Research Institute of Science and Technology for Society (RISTEX), the Fondation France-Japon de l’EHESS (FFJ) and the French Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) on June 2nd and 3rd in Paris. The workshop comprised keynote speeches and three discussion sessions, enabling all participants, including French and Japanese researchers mostly from social science and humanities (SSH) fields, to exchange information and ideas on the topics of cooperation in natural, social and human sciences, the innovation process and best practices for “rans-disciplinary” research in cooperation with various stakeholders in society. Furthermore, participants engaged in deep discussion on the importance of integration of knowledge and the role of SSH in innovation and creativity.

It is expected that this workshop will lead to the development of collaborative research and exchange among various stakeholders in this research field. JST aims to contribute to bolstering Japanese innovation through promoting implementation of “Trans-disciplinary” research from an international perspective.

JST, an integrated organization of science and technology in Japan, establishes an infrastructure for the entire process from the creation of knowledge to the return to the society. For more information, visit http://www.jst.go.jp/EN/
