Constructin of monomer library for commodity plastics derived from furfural

 Several furan derivatives are commercially produced from cellulose and hemicellulose, which are derived from inedible biomass resorces. Therefore, the expansion of the use of furan derivatives can lead fixation of carbon dioxide. In this research project, we use furfural, which is one of furan derivatives, for one of starting materials and establish the synthetic procedure of the monomer of the well-known commodity plastics. Furthermore, we construct the library of the biomass-based monomers, which will be synthesized during this project, for the creation of novel biomass-based materials.
