DNA is a unique molecular material with a high selective molecular recognition and high precision self-assembly. This project aims to create a novel artificial DNA which can perform functions in hydrophobic environments, such as a lipid bilayer of liposome and cell membrane. The DNA containing hydrophobic regions is an ideal building block for bottom-up nanofabrication in hydrophobic environments and will produce various functions on the surface and interior of a lipid bilayer.
