This project aims to:
(1) develop novel bottom-up methods of fabrication from nano to micron scale,
(2) establish “Supramolecular Click Polymerization, (SCP)” with the ultimate goal of integrating bottom-up fabrication methods with the conventional top-down fabrications.
SCP proposes novel concept melding with molecular recognition, self-assembly, and click chemistry. Using highly-circularly polarized luminescent molecules, reactive macromonomers with successive length ranges up to submicron are prepared and used as a prefabricated building block for the SCP. Using the SCP on the atomically flat substrates, I will prepare defect-free, circularly polarized luminescent micron films. These micron films are extremely promising, as they are expected to act as organic circularly polarized rainbow LASERs with multiwavelength emission and tunable right- / left-handedness.
