Having made several achievements through her research, things go smoothly for Yuko, but she is eventually suspected of plagiarism because of her actions regarding her citations and references in her research papers, involving ethical issues.

The story revolves around three university students who have coauthored an acclaimed collaborative research paper on proteins. They get a notification saying that their joint paper was under suspicion of plagiarism and that the university's misconduct investigation committee was looking into it. The three students each set off on their own path, recalling their behavior during the process of writing the joint paper and the differences in how they view research ethics. Through the misconduct investigation committee, the characters reflect on ethical issues and the actions during their research that led to them being suspected of plagiarism.
