Finely tuned synaptic transmission in the brain provides the molecular basis for learning and memory. The dysregulation of synaptic strength underlies the pathogenesis of various neurological disorders like epilepsy and dementia.

The PRESTO project aims to define the fundamental mechanism controlling synaptic strength. I will primarily focus on dynamic regulation of the AMPA-typed glutamate receptor, which mediates the major form of excitatory neurotransmission in the brain, by the recently identified regulators.
