Electron Nuclear Double Resonance (ENDOR) is a powerful method to investigate kinds of atoms and distances between metal ion(s) and atoms near metal ion(s) in metalloproteins. In this study, I develop a new ENDOR system which even can detect integer electron spin (silent spin). With this ENDOR, the water oxidation mechanism in photosystem II will be elucidated by determining the structure around the manganese complex especially in relation to water and generated oxygen. |
