Raman spectroscopy is one of the most powerful methods for living cell analysis and pathology, because it can visualize biological tissues without staining and invasiveness. In the present project, we develop a new endoscope by coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectroscopy. The CARS process enables us to boost a weak Raman signal and to perform molecular imaging with high speed. Using the newly developed CARS endospectroscope, we visualize structural changes of a biological tissue due to agents or pathological changes in vivo and in situ.
