The recent studies have clarified the production of neurons from adult neural stem cells and removal of amyloid plaques by microglia. These studies indicates the dynamic activities of cells in the brain, but a study to visualize these active cells for a long term in the brain to analyze its physiological phenomena has yet to be achieved. For that purpose, I would develop two systems, that is, a long-stabilized contrast agent in neural cells and a magneto-optical molecular and cellular imaging system, which enables us to visualize the cells at neural systems level as well as cellular and molecular level. |
