We, in recent, succeeded to establish the in vitro liver organogenesis system derived from murine ES cells. A system for human ES cell-derived hepatic tissue including non-parenchymal cells, such as sinusoidal endothelial, steric cells, and so on, will be established in this project. Using this differentiation system, molecular mechanisms of liver organogenesis and regeneration, also, will be made clear. Furthermore, a human liver tissue-micro chip system will be developed for drug metabolism assays by using human ES cell-derived liver tissue.
