Abstract

The goal in this study is to elucidate mechanisms of biological reactions, in which functional RNA molecules participate in various gene expressions, by means of functional analysis based on an X-ray crystallography. It is also intriguing to elucidate a precise mechanism for sulphur incorporation into tRNA by a crystallographic study. Because defects of tRNA modification in human mitochondria cause mitochondrial disorders, it is critical to reveal the tRNA sulphuration mechanism. On the basis of these structural and functional analyses, I intend to explore the capability of functional RNA molecules for medical applications and industrial use.
