[RESEARCH THEME]
This study focuses on the macroscopic dynamics of an ensemble of quantum dots.
This is in contrast with recent optical studies that mainly focus on the behavior of a single dot.
In particular, in this study "superfluorescence" is generated.
This phenomenon involves cooperative emission from all the dots in an ensemble induced by coherent coupling between the dots via photons. Furthermore, by clarifying the detailed mechanism for generating superfluorescence, it is possible to generate and control ultrafast emission from an ensemble of quantum dots.
