[RESEARCH THEME]
Every substances on the earth receive forces from outside of the substances.
The forces around an usual substance in an usual scale can be measured by normal force measurement methods. However, it is very difficult to know the strengths of forces that present in a small scale.
For example, the mechanical forces in a living cell are very difficult to measure.
In this study, mechanochromic probes will be developed.
The color of their photoluminescence changes with mechanical forces that are applied to the probe.
This probe can measure forces in various scales ranging from micro to nano.
