[RESEARCH THEME]
A heterocyclic π-electron system encased in three long siloxaalkane spokes is designed as a novel molecular compass.
Because a interior rotator (heterocyclic π-electron system) is protected by an exterior framework in the molecule, the rotation or orientation of the rotator could be controlled by external electric and magnetic fields, thermal stimulus, etc.
The aim of this project is synthsis of the molecular compasses and analysis of their physical properties (permittivity and refractive index, etc.).
