Estimates of population viability and response of coral metacommunity to climate change
Coral reefs is known as a treasure house of biodiversity. Recently its degradation has been reported all
over the world. In Okinawa and Kerama Islands, corals has been devastated by mass bleaching and the
outbreak of crown-of-thorns starfish. In this project, the population viability of corals in Okinawa-Kerama
area, the reef restoration by transplantation of corals, and the response of coral community to global
environmental variation are studied by using mathematical models.
