Elucidation of the mechanisms underlying membrane organization in autophagy
Autophagy is a bulk degradation system, in which a portion of the cellular contents are engulfed into lipid membrane sacks called autophagosomes. By its virtue, the cells can survive under nutrient-deprived conditions utilizing amino acids produced by protein degradation, and they can also keep their interior clarified. In this study, I aim at elucidating the mechanisms underlying autophagosome formation and thereby contributing to development of medicines or technologies to regulate cellular metabolism.
