Tissue-specific expression and function of sulfated carbohydrates
Complex carbohydrates are important metabolites that mediate cell adhesion, quality control of glycoproteins, and other cellular functions. The mechanisms of tissue-specific regulation of their expression, however, have remained elusive. In the present study, I will focus on a unique blood vessel called high endothelial venule that expresses specific sulfated carbohydrates, aiming at understanding molecular mechanisms of tissue-specific expression and function of sulfated carbohydrates.
