Molecular bases of metabolism regulation by functional noncoding RNA
Abstract
It is well known that both heredity and metabolism are bases for life. However, it is still largely unknown how metabolites regulate gene expression, especially translation. The aim of this study is to find novel functions of metabolites through analysis of gene regulation in response to metabolic stress, i.e. the accumulation of metabolic intermediates. I will focus on translational control in response to the metabolic stress to find novel regulation of metabolism via functional noncoding RNAs. When novel functions of RNA in metabolism control are revealed, it will be applied to many other fields including medical science.
