@Present research specifically addresses areas such as understanding the essential nature of light, explaining new phenomena, physical properties of light, and exploring new concepts and methods of the control of matter using light, along with the control of light itself. Using this approach, we examine a new paradigm that is expected to come about in the future. In addition, we target research that is based on original conceptions.
@Some examples include research regarding methods and technology of generation, propagation, and detection not only of infrared, visible and ultraviolet light, but also a wide range of light wavelengths, studies of corresponding elements, studies of the local interaction of light and materials, research on methods of control of atoms and molecules using light, and research related to the understanding of the properties of light such as wavelength and frequency, phase, and methods of measuring energy density. Through these studies, discoveries of new principles and creation of new methodologies are expected to be achieved, thereby triggering further innovative technological development.
@This project began in October 2005 with 10 elite researchers chosen as first term researchers , six elite researchers chosen as second term researchers in October 2006 , and eight elite researchers chosen as third term researchers in October 2007. The area research office is set up at the Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University in Sendai City. |
