韓国EBS教育番組のプログラムで研究内容が紹介されました

韓国の教育番組で当研究内容が紹介されました！
2025年9月、韓国の国営教育放送局EBS（Educational Broadcasting System）にて放送されたドキュメンタリー番組「雑草先生（Mr. Weed）」内で、私たちのERATO豊田植物感覚プロジェクトの研究を紹介してもらいました！
本番組では、「雑草のたくましさに学ぶ」というテーマのもと、植物の感覚や環境への応答に関する最新の科学的知見が取り上げられています。
映像は番組の後半、「植物が外界の刺激を感知し、自らを守るために応答している」ことを紹介するセクションで使用され、植物が“ただの物体”ではなく、“感じている生命体”であることを視聴者に伝える印象的なシーンとなっています。
その中で、当研究室が提供した以下のカルシウムイメージング映像が使用されました：

- ・ハエトリソウ（須田啓助教の提供）
- ・オジギソウ（萩原拓真研究員の提供）

番組ディレクターからのメッセージ
今回の映像提供にあたり、番組のディレクターであるHK Chung氏より、以下のようなメッセージをいただいています：
「『雑草先生』は2話、各50分程度で放映しました。
その中で、植物の自己防衛機構の概念と、植物が外部の刺激を生物として「知覚」するという事実を紹介する部分で動画を紹介しました。
研究者の皆さまが日々積み重ねてこられた研究成果により、植物の「感覚」や「生きている姿」が可視化され、
韓国の視聴者にとっても非常に印象的で、感銘を与えることができました。
番組の作成に協力していただき、心より感謝いたします。」
今後に向けて
今回のコラボレーションを通じて、植物の感覚に関する研究成果が国境を越えて共有され、 韓国の子どもたちや市民へ届けられられたことをとても嬉しく思います。 今後も、日本だけでなく世界中の人達に研究の成果を届けられるように活動していきます。
Our Research Featured on a Korean Educational TV Program!
In September 2025, our research from ERATO TOYOTA Plant Sensory Transduction Project was featured in the production of a documentary program titled “Mr. Weed” broadcast by EBS (Educational Broadcasting System), South Korea’s national educational television network.
The program, themed “Learning from the Resilience of Weeds,” introduces the latest scientific discoveries on how plants sense and respond to their environment.
Our video materials were featured in the latter part of the program, which highlights how plants perceive external stimuli and respond to protect
themselves—conveying the powerful message that plants are not merely inanimate objects but living organisms that “feel.”
The following calcium imaging videos provided by our laboratory were used in the program:
- ・Arabidopsis thaliana (provided by Prof. Masatsugu Toyota)
- ・Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) (provided by Dr. Hiraku Suda)
- ・Mimosa pudica (provided by Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Takuma Hagihara)
