Gigantic nanocarbons such as carbon nanotubes and graphenes are expected to change the scenery of modern physical science and/or materials science. This project tackled chemistry/physics problems of nanocarbons and explored new substances/materials by designing "nanocarbon molecules" that possess discrete molecular structures. The influence of the discovery of nanocarbon molecules over the physical/materials science may shape a novel "post nanocarbon era" that awaits to be explored. Starting from design of nanocarbon "molecules", we explored their assembled structures, materials applications and physical behaviors. Researches with different expertise from fields of chemistry, physics and materials science got together under a keyword of "degenerate π-integration" to take a challenge in exploration of new nanocarbon science.
