My name is Muhammad Mazeinda Albiruni, 21 years old, an Indonesian and a scholarship student from UPI majoring in Indonesian Literature Program. UPI specializes in education. I sometimes become a judge for art competitions, sometimes become a mentor and volunteer.
It's been 5 years since I had the opportunity to go to Japan in August 2015, going to Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo through Sakura Science Plan (SSP). Japanese people have strong character and are nice to us. They have good technology and a beautiful culture. There are many things I do after the program ended. One of them is their habits. I adore the Japanese and love them like brothers and sisters. It’s important to know that Sakura Science gave me many experiences.
Since then, I have done many things to reach an achievement in art. I got a trophy. But still, I think it's not good enough if I can't do good deeds for many people. In my side job as a volunteer in villages, I teach many kids how to read. Because I know that I have been to Japan before, I feel must do something innovative in art.
By chance in 2017, an art maestro invited me to join in a special project. It was to teach people─from 20 Indonesian provinces to make a play script. He wanted me to direct the students to make a play scripts in 20 different languages. I thought it would be hard for the audience to understand, but after the performance, viewers said that it was a nice performance.
SSP gave many things to me. If you want to learn something new with innovation, you must understand each other. The audience didn’t understand the regional language that the actor spoke in, but they understood it through the actors’ emotions.
Now I am trying to begin some new art projects with another student from a different university. With collaborative text methods and online platforms. Besides that, now I am writing some journal and a book. I hope you all can read it too.
Seeing Japan from some pictures or cultural videos, makes me remember that SSP supported me to reach my dreams. No matter where we come from, we are brothers and sisters.
