How did Sakura Science Plan play a role in your study / research in Japan?
I attended one summer program at YCU last summer, it is one of the reasons that I came to YCU for my exchange program. That 5-day Service Science Summer Program belonged to the Sakura Science Plan, and I am very grateful that it extended my field of study about stepping out of my comfortable zone, Food Science. After participating, I knew that we could gather people from different majors together and discuss the same issue. With views from different majors, we could learn and grow with each other. This sowed a seed of my ambition about learning more knowledge out of my major. Without a doubt, I was eager to step into Japan again to start my journey to study in a foreign country.
Please describe your comments freely related to your life in Japan.
I’ve been in Japan for about one month right now. I think the supermarket is one of my best friends here. I can always learn the daily vocabularies there, through Japanese names of food, drink, etc. I enjoy my life here a lot. There is delicious food everywhere! The most important thing is that Japanese people are very kind to me, even if I cannot speak well in Japanese. There is no need to say how YCU students treat me as their close friend. They are willing to help me at any time. I feel glad and grateful that I can be one of the exchange students here in Japan.
Please describe your message to people who are going to participate in this program.
To me, as a student from Taiwan, the prices here are much higher than my country, so I think it’s better for foreign students to acquire a scholarship before coming to Japan. In Japan, there are many things worth spending your time on, so it is important to plan your schedule well. Moreover, making local friends always helps with getting used to a new environment. So don’t be a couch potato at home. Go outside and make some friends!
