The roles of hypoxic responses during the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases
Inflammation is one of the key processes in the pathogenesis of heart failure. Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction represents half of all the patients with heart failure, however, there exists no effective therapy to this disease. This disorder has a characteristic of chronic inflammaiton and cardiac fibrosis. The failing heart tissue is supposed to be hypoxic, therefore, we hypothesized that hypoxic responses in cardiac tissues play an important roles during the pathogenesis of heart fibrosis. In this study, we aim to elucidate the mechanisms how hypoxic responses promotes the disease progression. This study will help us to establish a novel therapeutic approach by focusing this cellular responses.
