Development of imaging mass spectrometry technology for localized inflammation mediators in tissuesl
A substance that causes one of the component events in inflammation through a specific receptor is called a mediator of inflammation. Due to their strong ability to induce inflammation, they are produced/decomposed in a quite spatio-temporal manner. It is important to understand their spatio-temporal localization particularly during progression of chronic inflammatory disorders, however, till today, we don’t have an effective visualization technique to reveal their tissue localization. In this research project, I suggest development of imaging mass spectrometry technology for such localized inflammation mediators in tissues, and further its application to human chronic inflammatory disorders.
